This can indicate that a person is putting up an unconscious barrier between themselves and others. It can also indicate that the person's arms are cold which would be clarified by rubbing the arms or huddling. When the overall situation is amicable, it can mean that a person is thinking deeply about what is being discussed. But in a serious or confrontational situation, it can mean that a person is expressing opposition. This is especially so if the person is leaning away from the speaker. A harsh or blank facial expression often indicates outright hostility.
Consistent eye contact can indicate that a person is thinking positively of what the speaker is saying. It can also mean that the other person doesn't trust the speaker enough to "take his eyes off" the speaker. Lack of eye contact can indicate negativity. On the other hand, individuals with anxiety disorder are often unable to make eye contact without discomfort. Eye contact is often a secondary and misleading gesture because we are taught from an early age to make eye contact when speaking. If a person is looking at you but is making the arms-across-chest signal, the eye contact could be indicative that something is bothering the person, and that he wants to talk about it. Or if while making direct eye contact a person is fiddling with something, even while directly looking at you, it could indicate the attention is elsewhere.
Disbelief is often indicated by averted gaze, or by touching the ears or scratching the chin. When a person is not being convinced by what someone is saying, the attention invariably wanders, and the eyes will stare away for an extended period.
Boredom is indicated by the head tilting to one side, or by the eyes looking straight at the speaker but becoming slightly unfocused. A head tilt may also indicate a sore neck, and unfocused eyes may indicate ocular problems in the listener.
Interest can be indicated through posture or extended eye contact.
Deceit or the act of withholding information can sometimes be indicated by touching the face during conversation. Excessive blinking is a well-known indicator of someone who is lying.

So be at least careful with your girl friend on the above notes!

-Being Fresher!

Group Discussions (GD RROUNDS)

Hey Guys,
I am BEING FRESHER,
I would like to share some data related to Group Discussion (GD)Group Discussion (GD) are mainly topic-based or case study based. They are used in preliminary rounds for hiring any candidates.

Topic based GDs can be classified into many types :-

1. Factual Topics
2. Controversial Topics
3. Abstract Topics
4. Negavitive V/S Positive
5. Willing V/S Against etc.

Factual Topics:-

Factual topics are about practical things, which is related an individual activities in his day-to-day life. These can be current topics, they may be latest news or could be unbound by time. A factual topic for discussion gives a candidate a chance to prove that he is aware of and sensitive to his environment.
E.g. The education system in India, Police & Security department.

Controversial Topics:-

Controversial topics are the ones that are argumentative in nature. They are meant to generate controversy. In GDs where these topics are given for discussion, the noise level is usually high, there may be tempers flying. The idea behind giving a topic like this is to see how much maturity the candidate is displaying by keeping his temper in check, by rationally and logically arguing his point of view without getting personal and emotional.
E.g. Men or Women are better Managers, Political party etc..

Abstract Topics:-

Abstract topics are about intangible things. These topics are not given often for discussion, but their possibility cannot be ruled out. These topics test your lateral thinking and creativity.
E.g. Moon, Stars, Movies, Water,Planet etc..

Case-based GD:-

The case study tries to simulate a real-life situation. Information about the situation will be given to you and you would be asked as a group to resolve the situation given to them. In the case study there are no correct answers & perfectly solvable solutions. The objective in the case study is to get you to think about the situation from various angles of problem solving.
E.g. Article of some company case etc..

Positive V/S Negative:-

The discussion always starts with mainly two team/groups selecting a topic selected. One of the group selects will topic favoring, its correct & justifying its necessity and the opponent team will go for against it, saying its totally incorrect.
E.g. US attach at Iraq & Afghanistan etc.

The team/individual
Willing V/S Against GD:-

The discussion always starts with mainly two team/groups selecting a topic selected. One of the group selects will go for it/Willingness with topic and the opponent team will go for against it.
E.g. Love marriage or arrange marriage

Please make a note of following Content:

Subject knowledge of the topic

The candidate should express his opinions based on facts, figures and statistics. Based on his knowledge related to the topic, a corresponding rating on the 1-7 scale should be chosen. Please note that content should include only facts and opinions. No other parameter has to be taken into account while rating a candidate on Content.

If it is a case study, kindly judge a candidate on his ability to read between the lines and his ability to draw analogies to real life situations based on the case study.

Creativity and originality

Creativity and originality will be based on innovative or thought provoking idea by a candidate. If a candidate is supporting another candidate’s viewpoint his score on this parameter will be less howsoever good his content is. This parameter has a huge significance in Abstract GDs and Case studies.

Voice

There are two sub parameters ie Tone and Modulation. If a person is audible in a GD he scores high on tone and pitch.

Voice modulation is based on the ability of a candidate to emphasise on key words/phrases while making his point.

Body language
Posture

A candidate should sit attentively in a GD. He should bend a bit forward. This shows his attentiveness and interest in the GD.

A nodding head means a candidate is a good listener and this is a positive body language.

Candidates who cross their legs or fold their arms should be rated negatively.

This shows lack of inclination towards communication and a casual attitude. Pointing fingers, fists etc are negative gestures and candidates should be penalized for the same.

Candidates should put their pen down once the GD has started and should refrain from writing anything when the GD is in progress. At the most they can write few important points in the GD, which will help them in summarizing the GD later.

Eye Contact

Proper eye contact with the group is an essential requisite. A candidate should talk to his team members, not to the examiner.

Talking to examiner should be rated negatively. A candidate should have a proper eye contact with all the members of the group and not only a chosen few.

Analytical ability

This includes both logical and critical reasoning. This checks how well a candidate is able to analyse somebody’s viewpoint and also how well is he able to reason his own viewpoint.

Fluency

Fluency should be checked on the following two parameters:

i. Smoothness in flow of Language

ii. Pronunciation

Initiative

This parameter takes into consideration only the student who has initiated the GD. If he initiates well and is able to put the GD into the right perspective rate him/her high but if he stutters, falters, starts with a stand, quotes wrong facts and figure he should be rated negatively.

Leadership

A leader is a person who creates an environment of mutual understanding and cooperation in a GD. A leader is one who:

• Contributes to the GD through his content and ideas.
• Tries to put the GD into proper perspective so as to have a focused discussion on the issue at hand.
• Encourages other candidates to speak
• Coordinates the effort of the GD.

A person who forces somebody else to participate in a GD should be rated negatively Also a candidate who is only coordinating the effort of different team members without any contribution towards topic, should be rated negatively.

Group behaviour

Group behaviour is the ability to work well with the team members. Aggression, shouting in a GD, staring somebody, cutting somebody in between, trying to enforce views on others, questioning etc are some of the activities which are against team work and a candidate should be rated negatively on this parameter if he demonstrates any one of them

Enthusiasm

A candidate’s tone, body language especially his facial expressions will be effective while rating him on this parameter.

Listening

A candidate who listens to his other team members’ views and does not intercept any other group members should be rated high on this parameter. An effective body language includes attentive posture combined with nodding of the head.

-Being Fresher!

Apprentices Act in India (Apprenticeship)

Hey Guys,
I am Being Fresher!
I happen to come across Apprentices Act in India, Please find some part of the extract as mentioned below, Hope its helpful to you all out there.

Apprentices Act
The main purpose of the Act is to provide practical training to technically qualified persons in various trades. They don't have time to read through a lot of copy unless something immediately captures their interest. They don't appreciate fluff and spin, just benefits and facts. Keeping this in mind, here are my 20 rules for writing effective business e-mail messages:
1. Be accurate. Whatever claims you make, benefits you offer, or statistics you quote, make sure they are true and not inflated. Nothing is worse than starting off a relationship with exaggerated or even false information.
2. Be brief. Your job with B2B e-mail is to capture interest, then provide more information if it's wanted. You need to identify the most important benefit to the recipient and sum it up in a short paragraph. Think of it as the 30-second "elevator pitch" in e-mail form.
3. Be clear. Most business people are turned off by e-mail messages with bad grammar, misspellings, and/or unintelligible content. If you personally struggle with writing, hiring a professional writer to prepare your messages is a worthwhile investment.
4. Be genuine. Forget the hype that works with consumers. The B2B relationship is built on trust. Make sure everything you say conveys you are a genuine, upstanding, honest person running a reputable business.
5. Speak their language. Whatever you're going to say, write in words they understand and are comfortable with. Don't write down to them or above their comprehension level. People tend to understand and react better to words they use in everyday conversations.
6. Put yourself in their shoes. Try to picture the daily routine of the people you're contacting and reflect that in your writing: "I know you're busy, so I'll get right to the point."
7. Watch out for a "knowledge gap." Don't assume recipients have the same knowledge about your product or service you do. After you've captured their interest and have reached the "additional information" stage, try offering a step-by-step walk through of whatever you're marketing to help them understand what you're trying to say.
8. Write business e-mails as letters, not as ads. In the B2B world, a forthright communication in letter format is much more effective than an e-mail that looks and smells like an ad.
9. Take your time. As you would with B2C (and any other communication, for that matter), let your B2B e-mail message sit for a day or two after you complete it. Show it to colleagues and other business people, and get their opinions. In almost every case, the passage of time and other people's input will help you improve your messaging and writing.

10. Remember your e-mail is likely to be passed around. Because it's so easy for e-mail to be forwarded, assume your message will be sent to others if the initial recipient has any interest. You may want to include links to information that is relevant to others, including technical details, operations info, and financial data.
11. Mimic your verbal presentation. Although a lot of what you say in person may not be necessary or appropriate for an initial e-mail, you should still consider how you verbally present your product or service, whether by phone or in person. Think about what points you stress (those could be underlined or bolded in your e-mail) and the words you use (stick with verbal explanations that people understand).
12. Check your signature block. Make sure it's complete: your full name, title, company, address, phones, pager, fax, e-mail, and Web site links. Give the recipient a choice of how to contact you for more information.
13. Carefully choose when you actually send the mail. Most business people spend Monday mornings catching up on the e-mail, postal mail, and phone calls that have piled up since the previous Friday. You don't want your e-mail mixed in with dozens or even hundreds of communications that are being reviewed by recipients.
14. Prepare your subject line carefully. After the sender address, the subject line is the first thing B2B e-mail recipients will look at. It's akin to what you might say on the phone in the first 5 to 10 seconds. The subject line should directly relate to the primary benefit your product or service offers.
15. Use graphics wisely. Business people are interested in benefits, details, other customers, and so forth. Unless graphics enhance your message in a meaningful way, don't use them.
16. Make sure links within your e-mail display and work properly. When you list "for more information" links, make sure they are clickable so the recipient does not have to cut and paste. Also make sure they go to the exact page you want and this landing page is up to date and provides the information you want them to have. Sending people to your home page and leaving to them to figure out where to go is not a good idea.
17. Be wary about sending attachments. Most of the time, you don't know what software the recipient has or what filter settings are enabled. Sending PDFs, Word documents, or Excel spreadsheets may not be a good idea, since you don't know if the recipient can read -- or even receive -- what you send. A better idea: links to Web pages where the information contained in the attachments is displayed.
18. Test. Just as you do with any consumer e-mail campaign, test subject lines and message copy. Testing is no less critical with B2B e-mails.
19. Be complete. Most B2B e-mail recipients will form some sort of preliminary conclusion about your product or service before they respond to your e-mail. They'll determine for themselves whether your e-mail helps meet their needs. That's why providing details and complete information is important -- to give recipients the details they need to make the decision to call you or act on your offer.
20. Don't look like everyone else. Spend some time reviewing B2B e-mails you get to see what others are doing. Get on the e-mail lists of your competitors so you can see how they communicate. Analyse them all and find ways to differentiate yourself from the pack.

-Being Fresher !

RESUME WRITING TIPS

Hey Guys,
I am Being Fresher!
I am sharing you some information on:

Practical Resume Writing

Your resume presents not only your background, capability and accomplishments, it also reflects your personality, how organized you are, your sense for quality. Here are some practical tips to write a resume that impresses, portrays your strength and ultimately lands you on an interview.

Format your resume

Your prospect employer may have hundreds of resumes to screen, yet not having much time to go through in the first round filtering. You must therefore format your resume in such a way that it grabs his attention at a 10-second glance. A great way to do this is to present your resume clear and crisp with headings, limit to two pages at most. Be thoughtful in highlighting the most important information about your work experience, skills and education.
Write with a target in mind and be appropriate
Analyze the job ads and job descriptions to identify key words and compose your resume to address the requirements. As a multi-skill professional, it is advisable to tailor your basic resume by adding flavor that is specific to fit a particular job you apply for.
Use the right word, Watch the spelling
A spell/grammar checker on a word processor is helpful but do not rely on it totally. It cannot detect proper choice of words. Take note of consistency in style from capitalization, use of bullets to tense you use. Depending on the firm you are writing to, UK English, US English or Australian English (some word processor supports this) should be observed. Use action verbs rather than passive voice to demonstrate that you are a person who initiate and proact.
Choose the proper stationery
Good quality bond paper is essential. Resume on color paper is inappropriate, white or neutral shade is safe. Be sensitive that your resume may be photocopied, faxed, and scanned numerous times. As a side note, avoid the appearance of a photocopied resume.
Quote figures and facts
Quantify the contribution you make in your job history. This is not only more convincing, the hard facts and figures can also form an impact on the reader more easily.
Omit needless items
Give thoughts to what not to include in your resume. Some suggestions are: health condition, citizenship, awards, associations and memberships, publications and recreational activities that do not directly contribute to the job post you are applying, a second mailing address, "permanent address", references ("available upon request"), travel history, previous pay rates, previous supervisor names, reasons for leaving previous jobs. Much of these should be left until a job interview.
Design in style
Choose a font style that is professional and business, a font size that balances against the content and space available on the page. Use bold typeface only to highlight key points, they can be so hard on one's eyes. Do not use multiple fonts in your resume because this usually makes it look cluttered and busy.

Build your Resume Step by Step
Step 1: Know exactly what you want
You have to be clear in mind as to what image you wish to project and how your strength and accomplishments relate to your current objective and aspirations.
Step 2: Frame the skeleton of your resume
Determine the content you want to include and give them headings, prioritize them by importance.
Typical headings include Personal particulars, Education, Qualification, Working experience, Achievements, Skills and Proficiency.
Step 3: Build Substance around the Skeleton
Once the headings decided, gather details and put substance around them.

Personal particulars
Be prudent in mentioning only the relevant.
Education and Qualification
List from the most recent, include honors, scholarship, class standing
Working experience
List from Present to Previous
Achievements
List any awards, special recognition and academic achievements.
Skills and Proficiency
This include languages, IT skills. Give a rate against each, using a consistent scale. For example, use “Fair, Fluent, Native” to describe language proficiency; describe IT competency as “Can perform without supervision, Can teach the subject”.
Step 4: Edit the Content
Look up our other articles on Resume Writing for practical tips.
Step 5: Give it a final touch
Quality counts in a resume, not quantity. Design counts, not for the look of it but for its clarity and readability. Go through your resume meticulously and see if there are any final touch-up you want to make to your resume.

What you DON'T do when writing a resume!
Equally important to what to DO in effective resume writing, here are some DON'T'S:

Do not hand write your resume.

Do not state what you expect out of a job. Tell what you can contribute.

Do not go back further than 15 years of your previous employment.

Do not list names of your supervisors and contact information of your past employment.

Do not be wordy when listing job duties, use bullets instead, and in a consistent style.

Do not omit a previous position because it does not relate to your career goal. Mention it still so not to leave a gap in employment.

Do not disclose the reasons why you left previous employments, nor your availability to begin working - they should be discussed in the interview.

Do not cite salary unless the ad requires you to specify your salary history and/or expectation.

Do not mention hobbies and personal interests unless they represent your career goal.

Do not use words "references to be furnished upon request". This implies an insult to the reader's intelligence.

Do not forget to put your name on the second page, in case it is misplaced from the first page.

Do not print on both sides of the same piece of paper.

Do not leave trace of erasures, white outs, scratched out or rewritten text.

Do not staple your resume. This is to keep a professional image.

-BEING FRESHER !

Hey Guys,
I am BEING FRESHER,
I would like to share some data related to Group Discussion (GD)Group Discussion (GD) are mainly topic-based or case study based.

Creativity and originality will be gauged based on innovative or thought provoking idea by a candidate.

December: Dull month for freshers !

Hey Guys,
I am Being Fresher!

When the whole world is festive season, enjoying the Xmas & partying hard for New year celebration. An interviewer will rarely deduct points for dressing up. For men and women, play it safe -- a nice conservative suit should do the trick. And please, leave the jeans at home. "How could you possibly be an interesting person if you are not interested in the person interviewing you or their business?," asks Paul Brockbank, CEO of Logoworks.

Don't slouch. Maintain eye contact. Smile. Your body language will tell the interviewer a lot about you. If you come in lacking enthusiasm and confidence during an interview, the interviewer will assume you won't bring either to the job. "How could you possibly be an interesting person if you are not interested in the person interviewing you or their business?

Be memorable in some way. You don't want to be outlandish, but you should try to leave a lasting impression through your conversation. "Have something you laugh at together," says Mike Faith, president and CEO of Headsets.com. "It's kind of like a date and laughing together adds some big weighting."

Walk into the interview room with an expectation of success, but be humble. Don't act like the job is already yours -- because until you have an offer, it's not. "We will literally count how many times an applicant says 'we' versus 'I,'" says Josh Linkner, president and CEO of ePrize. "That's one thing we always check."

An interview is an opportunity to showcase your personality -- but make sure it's your professional personality. Don't talk to an interviewer as you would some of your friends. Hiring managers often use tactics to relax the candidate in order to find out more. "I try to interact and observe and make assessments of their behavior," says Sean Callahan, CEO of iLight Technologies.

An interviewer does not want to hear you whine. If you complain about your current boss or job, then the interviewer will leave with a negative impression of you. "One of the things I look for is if they suffer from victimitis," Linkner says. "It's a disease that can't be cured."

"CEOs of growing companies don't always have a game plan that is engraved in stone," says Tim Williams, managing partner of Media Storm. "A candidate therefore should recognize this and base some of their questions around 'current change' and 'possible/upcoming change'."

Be on time, turn off your cell phone, and don't interrupt. You could have all the proper qualifications, but someone else may as well. The difference will come down to the details. If your cell phone starts playing "Jingle Bells," the job could go to the other guy. "Anyone's appearance, demeanor, timeliness... are checkmarks," says Gerard Ferro, CEO of SunRx.

While you're the one being evaluated, don't forget to size up the interviewer as well. You don't want to point out her flaws, but take note of her responses to your questions -- it may well determine whether you even want the job. "Study the CEO's reactions of these questions to make sure that they are a leader that can handle inevitable change," Williams says.

All the best..
-Being Fresher !

Learning How to be Successful: What they Didn’t teach us in School

Hey Guys,
I am Being Fresher!
I happen to see wonderful article on How to be Successful, I wanted to share the same with you....

Learning How to Be Successful: What They Didn’t Teach Us in School.
Written by Kimberly Spann

Tips on how to be successful in life, career, and relationships:
Knowing how to be successful is one of those things they should teach us in school. Wouldn’t
life be so much easier if “way back when” we learned what success really means? What amount
of stress could we have avoided if we could have raised our hands in class to ask, “Hey
teacher, tell me how to be successful”? While changes are definitely happening in the realm of
elementary education, it’s a little too late for most of us. There are only two tasks to get you on
your way; define success for yourself and learn how to be successful.
What is success to you? Maybe it’s making a ton of money, healing your mind and heart,
maintaining a lasting relationship, or being famous. For every dream of success that we have,
there is an underlying feeling associated with it. The desire to be successful, whatever your
definition is the offspring of the basic human desires to be accepted and appreciated.
Sometimes the acceptance and appreciation we seek is from us! The truth is that most of us
want “success” but few of us know what it means to us or how to get it. What is success step 1:
In what area of life do you want to be successful? Step 2: Remember it. That’s it. From here on
out, your success will depend on your willingness to achieve it.
There are those that do know how to achieve success. Did Bill Gates, Michael Phelps, or that
Tom guy from MySpace get successful by hoping they would get a chance to do what they do?
It’s obvious that they know a little about how to be successful! Anyone can do what they have
done. OK, ok. So maybe you won’t be a gold metal Olympic swimmer or become a billionaire
CEO. But if that’s what you wanted, knowing how to be successful at it would definitely go a
long way, right?
Being successful is a lot about your perspective of yourself and your own abilities. We’ve all
heard that if we want others to value us, we must first value ourselves. This is very true for the
successful person. Would Michael Phelps be the world record holder of eight gold metals had

Learning How to Be Successful: What They Didn’t Teach Us in School.
Written by Kimberly Spann

he not valued and appreciated his own abilities? Of course not! The same is true for you. If your
version of success is simply finding the value in yourself, then you’ve chosen an excellent unit
of measurement. An easy way to begin valuing yourself is to prove something to you, for
yourself. Maybe you have a habit to break or a project you want to finish. Achieving small goals
is one of the best ways to start valuing yourself.
Act for outcomes, not expectations. Expectations can lead you astray from the path of success
in two ways. One way is by having unrealistic bad expectations based on history or lack of
information. This is because, as humans, we have a nasty habit of forming opinions about an
outcome based on feelings we’ve experienced in the past. The second way that expectations
can cause a problem is in contrast to the first. We may expect a better outcome based on
information or feelings that are not realistic. When we act for outcomes, we take calculated
risks. Calculated just means that you thought about what may happen as consequence before
deciding on a course of action.
Work at it. The only way to truly be a success is to truly desire to be successful. Success isn’t
something that is haphazardly achieved. Bill Gates did not stop working when Microsoft had its
first hit program. If he had, someone else would have his share of the technology pie. And
someone else will have your piece of the pie if you aren’t willing to put forth the required effort to
achieve your dreams of success. If you want to be successful, you might start by planning your
success on paper. If its money you’re after, how are you going to get it? Write down a plan and
stick to it. Update the plan as needed, but always act on your plan! Unlike other luxuries in life,
success is something that cannot be inherited. The only way to get it is to work at achieving it.
Here comes the hardest part of being a success; consistency. Successful people wake up every
day and tell themselves in some way how valuable they are. They consistently seek to be
successful and practice habits regularly. Notice that they “practice habits”. A habit is something
we have learned to do without consciously thinking about doing it. When we practice habits, we
are making it a point to regularly do the things that will help us to be successful. One of those
habits is telling yourself that you already are successful. If you wake up one morning and say
“It’s going to be a bad day”, guess what? It is going to be a bad day. You can influence your
own success in the same negative way. Remember, to be anything you must believe that you
are that thing. If you want to be successful, you must see yourself as such. Start each day by
telling yourself that you ARE a successful person, parent, spouse, professional, etc.
If we truly take the time to define our own meaning of success, create a plan to achieve it, and
remember how to be successful, there is nothing that cannot be accomplished. It takes
dedication, work, and conscious effort to be a success at anything. Daily, we succeed at a
multitude of tasks and goals that take great amounts of work to achieve. Success simply means
that those things for which we put forth effort are inline with our plans of success.

-BEING FRESHER !!!

Fortune 500 Company list

Hey Guys,
I am Being Fresher!..
I found list of Fortune 500 companies..
I also hope that everyone reading this must be also blessed to get an opportunity to work at the Fortune 500 companies.

All the best Guys.... My mobile being the best friend of mine each time it rings I was anticipating interview call. Travel in buses meet strangers & always think of getting a job. The crowed area of busy commercial places, looking for tall buildings and dreaming my future as being working in that particular work place with good pay & better lifestyle.

Hectic mornings starts with local newspaper searching for an openings & strange situation on wearing clothes then with break fast at a local bakery. Day starts with concentrating a business complex in a particular area.

Getting in to a local transportation buses also is a struggle for survival. The ironed clothes are all crinkled, combed hair are in complete mess & the body sweat (hope you can imagine this)

Finally land into some business places & walk-in for a job.

The un-entertained front office executives & security personnel who chase a fresher just like an alien.

Is fresher a liability, Is there no scope for me, Is the career path chosen by me a wrong one ??? and thousands of thoughts arise in my mind.

When going for walk-in, being impatient for my turn among thousands of other candidates just like me. Attend the interview and come out after the HR saying “we will get back to you or you are on hold”

Its evening by then & all people leaving offices to return back their home. So am I, now that there are no offices open I sit in a public park hungry & completely frustrated only thinking of dream of jobs.

Go back to place I live & share my moments with my fellow friends.

The next morning day starts with similar activity & similar plans.
